Curt, there's a lot about 3D printing on the Design News site. Here is one I particularly liked, a slideshow of many different 3D printers for hobbyist to production, plastic to metal.

We've mentioned 3D printing here a few times, so  This caught my eye.  One of the presenters at the end of the video says "We believe this changes everything" -- which may sound familiar to followers of the IoT movement. 

Grab your resident mechanical engineer and ask him what he thinks :-) 

(I also noticed that NASA has started printing rocket parts!)
